Star Tribune Will Settle Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

November 25th, 2008 · No Comments

The Star Tribune, a Minneapolis/St Paul newspaper, has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of two women working for the paper. The suit alleges that the paper’s management allowed a hostile work environment to continue in the mail room, affecting all women who have worked there since August 2005. These women were allegedly exposed to vulgar language, sexual statements and crude humor.

The settlement will total at least $300,000. More women may forward before the final hearing on March 24; of so, the amount of the settlement will increase. Additionally the Star Tribune has agreed to take steps to end sexual harassment, including appointing a supervisor or manager for every shift in the mail room.

If you or a loved one has been exposed to sexual harassment in the workplace, you can fight back. Contact the New York City sexual harassment attorneys at Cary Kane LLP by calling 212-868-6300.
