Dozens of employees, who are in charge of caring for more than 100 disabled individuals have threaten their employer, Pinnacle Opportunities, to walk if their demands are not met. The workers complain that they are both understaffed and underpaid, which has thus resulted in a negative impact on patient care. The Unions and the employers have been in negotiations since July, however on September 15th, the union filed an intent to strike. There were some scheduling issues that kepted the two sides from meet more frequently about the issue of pay and work environment. Admittedly, the company did put together a proposal that would offer a $0.78 pay increase for most employees and a $0.90 pay increase for long-term employees. Most of the union members have not read the proposal. They have stated, however, that they would like to see a steady increase in pay each year of the three-year contract. It is absolutely imperative that employers respect the needs and wants of their employees. Business sometimes forget the importance of the individuals who put in the long hours to make them money.
