The U.S. Post Office is offering early retirement to thousands of clerks, mail handlers, and supervisors. The early retirement does not come with incentives or bonuses, but with the poor economic times the Post Office was forced to take action. Losses this year are expected to near $1.5 billion.
Employees who are 50 or older and have 20 years of service may retire. Approximately, 130,000 workers will be eligible for retirement.
