The number of newly-laid off workers seeking unemployment benefits has fallen for the second week in a row. Two weeks ago it reached a six year high. However, in one week the number of applications was only 432,000 which is 13,000 less than the week before.
This drop is steeper than what analysts had predicted. However, the amount of claims filed still remains high. The four week average is 445,750 which is the highest is 7 years.
